Hace dos años nos dieron la noticia de que un virus maligno se estaba propagando aceleradamente y había que detenerlo; la única solución inmediata era encerrarnos en casa y esperar a que pasara. En ese momento nació El Rizo Robado, en principio fue como un impulso, tal vez producto del encierro o la incertidumbre. Y al igual que la pandemia, en que cada mes se extendía un mes más y otro y otro … así, el Rizo Robado, se ha extendido hasta hoy, que cumple dos lindos años, y lo estamos celebrando en grande…

 

El Rizo Robado es un modesto ejemplo de lo que podemos lograr gracias al entusiasmo y colaboración de los artistas, escritores, poetas, performers, músicos y locos que nos han acompañado, han colaborado y participado con nosotros.

 

Pero este número es muy especial, ha logrado reunir a 14 artistas del performance fuera de nuestras fronteras, quienes nos comparten su trabajo, sus reflexiones y relatos de sus acciones. La curaduría de este número se la debemos a la generosidad y el esfuerzo de Martín Rentería, artista y performer mexicano que, entre sus muchas acciones, también es fundador y director de Transmuted International Performance Art Network, cuna de los festivales Transmuted International Performance Art Festival y UTOPIA International Performance Art Meeting.

 

Estamos ante la presencia de una colección notable de artistas que Rentería ha logrado reunir y de los que se sabe poco en nuestro país y, aún cuando de manera extraordinaria hemos publicado los textos en inglés, poco a poco iremos traduciendo las notas para que quede el registro de estos extraordinarios artistas en nuestra lengua.

 

Este grupo de artistas del cuerpo recrean situaciones que lindan con lo ritual, lo mágico, lo erótico y hasta lo absurdo, creando ambientes y atmósferas únicas que, en conjunto, son un cuestionamiento de lo que somos, del mundo que habitamos y de cómo nos relacionamos.

 

Esta curaduría y colaboración de Martín Rentería con el Rizo Robado es un proyecto que se integra dentro de las actividades de Transmuted Network, con el objeto de darle visibilidad a esta organización y con ello ampliar el alcance y difusión estos festivales que urgentemente necesitan una reactivación. De igual manera, agradecemos a Leticia Llamas quien, tras bambalinas, organizó textos, envió correos, y hasta consiguió un traductor del mandarín; pero, sobre todo, nos alentó con su entusiasmo para que este número fuera posible.

 

Celebramos así, el segundo aniversario, y larga vida para El Rizo Robado.

Two years ago we received the news that a malignant virus was spreading rapidly and had to be stopped; the only immediate solution was to lock ourselves in the house and wait for it to pass. At that moment El Rizo Robado was born, at first it was like an impulse, perhaps a product of the confinement or some uncertainty. And just like the pandemic, which each month was extended one more month and another and another... thus, El Rizo Robado has been extended until today, which turns this month in two beautiful years, and we are celebrating it in a big way...
 
El Rizo Robado is a modest example of what we can achieve thanks to the enthusiasm and collaboration of the artists, writers, poets, performers, musicians and crazy people who have accompanied us, collaborated and participated with us.
 
But this issue is very special, it has achieved to bring together 14 performance artists from around the world, who share their work, their reflections and stories of their actions. We owe the curatorship of this issue to the generosity and effort of Martín Rentería, a Mexican artist and performer who, among his many actions, is also the founder and director of the Transmuted International Performance Art Network, center of the Transmuted International Performance Art Festival and UTOPIA International Performance Art Meeting.
 
We are in the presence of a notable collection of artists that Rentería has managed to gather and about whom little is known in our country and, even though we have published the texts in English in an extraordinary way, little by little we will translate the notes, so we will be able to enjoy the texts of these extraordinary artists in our language.
 
This group of body artists recreate situations that border on the ritual, the magical, the erotic and even the absurd, creating unique environments and atmospheres that, together, are a questioning of who we are, the world we inhabit and how we feel and relate with each other.
 
This curatorship and collaboration of Martín Rentería with El Rizo Robado is a project that is integrated into the activities of Transmuted Network, in order to give visibility to this organization and thereby expand the reach and diffusion of these festivals that urgently need a reactivation. Similarly, we thank Leticia Llamas who, behind the scenes, organized texts, sent emails, and even got a Mandarin translator; but she, above all, encouraged us with her enthusiasm to make this number possible.

 

This is how we celebrate the second anniversary, and long life for El Rizo Robado.
